Greetings, Flourishers of the Quill.
You read that correctly — we’ve received a great many worthy pieces of art, poetry, flash fiction, and short stories and the anthology promises to shape up to be an occulted, hidden, secretive, unmerciful collection. But we are in need of a few more additions in the realm of short story. Here’s a video of Nico Harlakenden describing our current state:
While we’re still accepting submissions of all varieties, it is the short story persuasion that will get us closer to our goal of publishing and the next steps.
What will be happening behind the scenes as you aspiring writers scribble away?
We will take this week to review current submissions (12/6)
Drafting of proposals (developmental edits, not line edits), along with an estimate of lump sum pay for author’s review; Poetry and Art commission should be final at this stage. (12/13)
Outreach to selected creators from this round. (12/15)
Response requested by 12/20. (Open to other arrangements upon discussion!)
What can you do to help?
If you, fine thinkers, have taken an interest in our little project, it would be of greatest aid to our endeavors if you would share this information to entice others. We realize it may feel as a conflict of interest to those who have not heard back from us at this juncture, thinking a “spot” may be taken by any newcomers, and for this reason we’re attempting to spend quality time with each piece already submitted earlier than we had anticipated: While we had planned to let others know by mid-January if their piece had been selected, we’ve moved the timeline up to no later than 12/15 — with a vow that all current submissions will be given priority.
We still understand should you decide to be conservative at this point, but would appreciate any and all word-of-mouth you may deem our work worthy of.
